I recently got an offer from an MBB consultancy at an Asia-Pacific office. I am writing this to share my story of failure, case interview preparation, failure, and then success.
It is my second year of attempts. Last year, I got interviews with two second-tier consulting firms and completely bombed them because I was not prepared. Before going there, I could not even imagine how difficult the interviews would be.
Nevertheless, at some point I realised I wanted to become a consultant, so I had to prepare. Here is what I did this year:

It took a lot of time and money and I felt prepared. I went to the first interview this year and got rejected. My performance was not too bad, but I still was not in full control of the situation: at some point of the interview I felt I could not concentrate very well. So I brought chocolate to my next case interview. Chocolate ($10) really helped and I got through all the interviews. And then I interviewed at another MBB firm, whose offer I happily accepted.
So, the moral of the story is two-fold. First, by trying and working hard you increase your chances. Second, PrepLounge is great because for a relatively small fee you get to do the most important thing in preparation for case interviews: practice a lot.
I want to say a huge thank-you to the PrepLounge team and everyone who I practiced with (good luck to you guys!). And good luck to everyone who is reading this! Do consider PrepLounge – this humble future consultant highly recommends it.
